Just when we all thought Reiza studios was working on their new version of Automobilista, they go and surprise us by publishing a new 1.5.1 Version of their simulation! And: at no cost for anyone that owns it!

The biggest surprise and the one that’s surely going to earn them many new fans is the new “Drift Series” and “Drift Game Mode”, which brings exactly what it says: You can now use Automobilista for drifting around in your favorite car. If you don’t have any track mods for drifting, you can always use karting tracks, as it is our experience that they fit very well a drift mode. And Reiza have provided three tracks with this update you can use for drifting called Buskerud Ice, Mendig Drift and Foz Tarmac. And of course we expect all you modders out there to start producing content for this Drift Mode, be it tracks or be it tweaking the data of existing car mods to make them fit for drifting.

Incredibly, there’s more! Reiza Studios have added the 2018 version of their F-Ultimate series (you know, the simulation of those special open wheel cars we dare not say their name in case lawyers are awaken) and a new Super F-Dirt series.

Add to this some bugfixing and improvements of AI behavior and other code around their AI and you get the impression they have kept themselves quite busy.

Sadly, they now clearly state that this is the end of development of Automobilista. Fans will rejoice at one more DLC (yet to be announced), and Reiza have committed themselves to still clean up bugs, but they are going to stop main development. We all hope it’s because they will be working on a new and improved version of their simulation, with DX11 and virtual reality support (let us dream a little…)

Are you going to use this drifting series? Is it what you had been waiting all the time?
