Red Bull has been known for sponsoring anything that has a motor, and then some.
It seems they are also eager to sponsor virtual motors. According to a press release from iRacing, both companies are starting a new championship in the world of (Sim)RallyCross, the “Red Bull GRC World Championship eSport Series” with cash and prizes amounting to 17.000 USD.
According to the press release: “Competitors race in VW Beetle GRC cars and Ford Fiesta RSs at tracks like Daytona, Iowa and Lucas Oil Raceway.” And “Qualification for the World Championship series will begin on March 22”, which is less than a week away.
iRacing will be broadcasting the events live on their Facebook page at 21:00 (US) Eastern Time every Thursday, which will make it difficult for non american racers and spectators to take part.
So Ladies and Gentlemen, start your CPUs!
