HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

Now, December saw us pick up some speed again, and things have started to move in the right direction.

Domain
First of all, we’ve moved from our test server into our full domain. From now on, we can be reached under https://www.wromwom.net Oh yes, having the Site TLS protected was one of our goals all along.

Website Setup
We’ve moved the whole site from our testserver to the new server, and are setting up the site in the way that looked and felt best on the testserver. There may be some kinks here and there. If you see something, please let us know!

Logo and CI colors
We DO have a logo, and some CI colors! How do you like the logo? We find it expresses a lot of what we as racers feel.

logo: WromWrom.net

There’s also a version with the name of the site on it. We’ll be including the logo in the page in the next iteration as well as changing the colors fo the site to fit the magnificent colors of our logo!

Helping you participate
Not only do we have the forum extensively set up, we have included many other ways for you (YES, YOU right here!) to participate:
You can send us an article
Up- and Downvote posts
Rate posts and articles
Help correct translation errors
Give us feedback
Correct an error in our Track and Vehicle Database
and Upload a new Mod or an update to a Mod
Because WromWrom.net is YOUR community. YOU are WromWrom.net!

Track and vehicle database
Yeah, still testing, altho we think we have the better solution now.

Multilingual Site
As you may notice by the flags on the navigation, our site is now prepared to offer its content in three languages: English, Spanish and German. When the community expands and if we find enough people to help us, we are not against expanding to even more languages!

Lotsa legalese
It’s a sign of the times, but it’s needed, we’ve implemented all the legal pages to run a community. Well, at least we hope they are all we need…

Security
Besides making the page TLS ready, we ave implemented some systems against bots, spam, and other unnerving beasts. We hope we can provide you a good experience while keeping the site alive. And we’ve set up the site with a double Opt-In. Not only is it good manners and even good against bots, it’s the law in many countries.

Many (almost) unseen details
Running such a community means not only doing the big things, but also small details in the back as well as in the front. (Eg. when you log in you are brought back exactly where you left before you did so) They are small, but they are many and setting them up correctly means  spending some time doing the right thing.

RSS feed
is set up for those who like to use RSS to make your live easier.

FAQ page
We will collect all Frequently Asked Questions here and set the page up to answer many FAQs. At the moment we only have one FAQ (no surprise here) but we know this will grow. In time.

Further Iterations
We are reworking our plans so that we have the most important parts of the site ready for March, which is a date we don’t want to miss.
At the same time, we are trying to make the iterations fit some narrative, like “all needed for a calendar” or “have a working and living track and vehicle database”, etc. This way we can concentrate better our energy on one point and don’t try to do 1.000 things at the same time.

For the next iteration finishing on the 24th of January, we’ll

  • Continue setting up the Track and Vehicle database
  • Streamlining registration and login
  • Extensive work on the navigation menues
  • Extensive internal tests of the site and of use cases

Please comment on anything you see here and by all means give us your opinion about what you want to see at WromWrom.net as well as any ideas you may have. We promise to read everything and take any idea into consideration.

Save fuel, take pickup, and we’ll see each other at the podium!
